Coach Hays is the Director of Track & Field for Bethesda Track Club. He is a USATF Level 3 and World Athletics Level 5 certified distance coach and a USATF Level 2 sprints, hurdles, and relays. In 2008 he was invited to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, to participate in the Emerging Elite Coaches Clinic. He was there for over two weeks as the world's best athletes prepared for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. In 2013 he attended the Distance Summit, a USATF Level 3 School and returned to the Olympic Training Center in 2014 to earn his Level 3 Certification and his World Level 5 Certification. He has coached for over 25 years, developing several Washington Post All-Met athletes who went on to star in college. Coach Hays was the All-Met Coach of the Year in 2010, the year his team won the State Cross Country Championships. He is also a certified distance coach through RRCA as well as a Gold Level IAC Coach with NFHS.
Coach A is the former Head Track & Field and Cross Country Coach at Walt Whitman High School. She is a USATF Level II certified coach, as well as a certified distance coach through RRCA and NFHS. She has been coaching for over 20 years and is an avid runner herself, having qualified multiple times for the Boston Marathon. She competed in high school in both cross country and track & field.
